Shape and form

16th September 2014
If you were to look again at yesterdays picture you would see five boats. The three on the left hand side of yesterdays picture feature again today in this image. the images were made within half an hour of each other . For this one the sun is that like bit higher in the sky, but the main difference is that the sun is side lighting the boats more. Images where you are shooting into the sun or where the sun is strongly side lighting are I think always more exciting then when the sun is behind the photographer, because it brings out the shape and form of the object you are photographing. Of course another interesting difference, is the point of view, in yesterday's image I have used a wide angle lens and am very close to the boats. in todays I might even look closer, but am in fact much further away, using a 200m zoom lens, I have actually crossed the road, and gone as low as I can to include the overhanging branches.
